Hello Everyone, I`m a 53 Y.O. guy from Arizona, USA, I`m flying to Ponta Delgada August 17th, I plan on living on the Azore Islands until Dec-22nd where upon I`m flying back to Minnesota,USA to spend time with family, I seen that there is an REMAX on the Azores with a lot of rentals between $450-$600 Euros per month but when I inquired about them he seemed more interested in selling me something, Nice guy though,I have traveled to some neat places around the globe, have been single now for 13 yrs, my kids are all grown up and being a merchandise broker now for 20 years its easy for me to live somewhere abroad for 4-6 months "with a good high speed internet service" and then back in the states for rest of the time, The Azores has been on my "To Do" list for sometime now, Need advice on living there, Apartment or House Rental, is there an affordable way to rent a vehicle for transportation? I have an international Drivers License, Does Skype work there? I need very good communications to run my business, I have an international service plan with Skype but when I called a friend who is Azoran, I was charged for the call, I`m with Verizon here in the states as far as my cell phone service, I would also like to join a local Gym . I'm also a fisherman, Love to catch fresh fish for supper, advice on what Island may suit me best, Maybe São Miguel to start with? Santa Maria or Pico looks very interesting too? Actually all of them look very nice. I would love to live close to a Marina, have boated most of my life. Until I sell some of my Real Estate in Arizona,I can`t live "Too High On The Hog" as we say but maybe if its the right situation I might splurge a little more. I just moved here recently myself..best thing I ever did in my life..points Delgado is OK but there are nicer places here..Vila Frank's about 20 mins drive from points Delgado but right on the water and small boating facility here and rentals much cheaper..I will contact a couple of people for you about rentals if interested..regards kevin

Hello again, well about the car, you could try the "Ilha Verde Rent a Car" even if I don't know how many Rent a Car buildings do we have in the island, although I know that one, even if I never rent a car there...anyways back to the "topic" you "should" give a look on it since you want to Rent a Car, about the houses well...even here it's a kinda hard to find one, not because of the amount of them but because of the prices of them,(well you can blame the deep economic crysis) anyways it will depends a lot on the money you want to spend to "Rent" a house or room, also if you will go to explore the island, you should take a look on this places

Hi Paulo, Thanks for the update, your English is Great! I haven't found a place to live on Ponta Delgada yet, its difficult I think unless your there driving around to find a nice place , I arrive on August 18th, I think I'm going to just rent a car and explore the Island and find a nice neighborhood to live, I'm going to bring my fishing gear along so I can fish once a week, I love to fish :) Hopefully I can find a car to rent the whole time I live on Ponta Delgada. well, I'll try to help you with the answers you need(at least a few of them), I'm from São Miguel and i had live here till nowadays(hope I can change that) and I can tell you about a few of your doubts.
About your doubt connected to skype, well I do you use skype here and I have no problems with it or any kind of issue connected to it, so I think you will be fine using it here, the internet speed is also good so I'm sure it wont be a problem to you(on my case I have 100 MB) the gym one, you can find a few ones(although I don't frequent any...so I can't help with any other question or doubt related to it) and about your doubt related to fish....you can get fish without much problems here, so you can get fresh fish anytime you want:)
sorry for not be able to help you even more than I did but about the rest of your questions, I cannot help since I'm not working or even looking for a place to settle down on the island...:P
(sorry any possible mistake connected to english, as you can see I do not speak english as my first language...)
